Exhibition Design – Optiphi and Leenyx @ World Congress of Aesthetic Medicine

Exhibition Design – Optiphi and Leenyx @ World Congress of Aesthetic Medicine

The 19th World Congress of Aesthetic Medicine (WCAM2013) was recently held at the CTICC in Cape Town.

We were contracted by Optiphi and Leenyx to produce their 6m x 3m corner exhibits at the event. Both are constructed using Octanorm Maxima as the structure. We then added stretched fabric, duco-sprayed timber, textured wallpapers as well as a range of custom items, shelving, furniture  and lighting effect.

The exhibition design objective for both exhibits was to achieve a clinical aesthetic and also to act as a clear showcase for their products to the international and South African delegates.
In both instances existing components from previous congresses were incorporated, so saving on production costs. Most components are fully re-usable on future shows in line with our philosophy of not only being as budget conscious as possible, but also to minimize our carbon footprint.
Another great effort by the HOTT3D team

Exhibition Trade Show Stand Design in 2012 – The Hott3D Style Guideline & Ideas

Hott3D has been  extremely busy in 2012, building exhibition stands around South Africa. We thought we would give an update on some of our Exhibition Trade Show Design Ideas & Materials, that we have used for our clients in 2012.

Finishes include:
Sprayed laser cut panels with backlit text
Timber flooring
Custom furnishings
LED sidelit detailing
Stretched fabric prints.
AfricaCom runs from the 13th till the 15th November 2012 at the CTICC in Cape Town, South Africa

Pharmaplan – SA Heart Congress 2012 Exhibit

Using Octanorm Maxima as the base structure we utilized a combination of clad and inserted panels to create backlit effects that highlight the product logos.

Flooring consists, very simply, of astroturf.

A large custom barcounter serves as both a meeting point as well as a platform for dispensing a bar service and snacks.

Behind the bar is a chalkboard wall featuring sport icons from Super 15 rugby, The British Open Golf as well as the current Test Cricket between England and South Africa. The plasma has daily footage of these and other major sporting events.

This exhibit uses component already existing from other shows previously done for Pharmaplan. They can be re-used and reconfigured due to the modularity of Octanorm.

Lundbeck – SASOP 2012 – Full custom 9m x 3m exhibition booth

We designed this booth to focus on Hospitality, which included:

1. A bar service of beverages, small cooked treats and ice cream.
2. Multiple seating to allow for delegates to enjoy the refreshments as well as sit down at tea and lunch breaks.
3. Satellite TV signal – most important that the rugby game this weekend between South Africa and Australia be broadcast so that delegates can watch even though they are not at home.
The design of the stand was simply done, but with key features that created an impactful and very open/ accessible layout.
– Laser cut, backlit “water and sunrise” relating to Saphris Sycrest.
– Raised timber flooring
– Full custom service bar with below counter storage
– Large format printed graphic
– Plasma with DSTV as well as DVD
– As much seating as possible.

AfricaCom 2011 Awards

The 4th annual AfricaCom Awards took place at The Lookout in the V&A Waterfront on the 9th of November 2011. Celebrating companies that contribute towards telecoms in Africa the event was bursting at the seams with attendee’s from the concurrent AfricaCom conference and exhibition that was taking place at the CTICC on the 9th and 10th of November.

Linking with GearhouseSA, The H3D-HOTT3D crew created temporary infrastructure  to bring across both the event and sponsor branding and also to create an event split into the sitdown awards part of the evening as well as the all important after party. Attendee’s were greeted by a branded entrance and red carpeted to the dinner and after party. As the event is sponsored by Gateway branding was crucial and feedback is that they where very happy with the result. From cards for the flowers to 4m high bar backdrops…sponsor and event branding was everywhere, yet not invasive.

Your favourite “cousin”, Barry Hilton was the MC and humourous edge and, as always, was a hit with audience. Jimmy Dludlu was the headline performer at the afterparty and truly lived up to expectations. He is simply superb and the audience really got down to his tunes.

Operation Shoebox was the official charity for 2011. The link with AfricaCom propels OS into an excellent financial position to further its super work in the underprivileged communities. They really do excellent work and are well worth supporting…hint hint! 🙂  Click the link and make a contribution.

This years Awards setup really has raised the bar for this event and has also created a usable template moving towards next years events with most concepts destined to be retained and expanded upon.

The H3D crew created both the graphic artwork digitally and then actioned that into the afterparty bar backdrop using our modular octanorm systems. We also linked with Inflate making use of their inflatable, LED backlit walls to section the afterparty area from the dinner area. All furnishings were supplied from our stock.  The setup was all done during the first day of AfricaCom after an intensive 3 day show buildup. The Awards breakdown then happening at 2am and loadout at 8am….and then onto the main event strike that same evening of the 10th until 2am. The times placed the crews under fatigue pressure, but were handled excellently. As with all large events we sleep when it’s over.

A hugely successful AfricaCom for the H3D-HOTT3D team this year.

Pharmaplan teams up with OperationShoebox

At Biological Psychiatry currently on in Stellenbosch Pharmaplan teamed up with Operation Shoebox to create an activity for delegates to participate in.

Operation Shoebox

At medical congresses delegate participation in activities is big in South Africa. At any one show delegates can be seen making pottery, painting, creating caricatures…even wall climbing.

On Pharmaplans stands delegates are encouraged to personalise shoe-boxes in their own unique way using paint, pens, stickons, glitter. These boxes will then be filled with clothing, toiletries, stationary and a toy or two by Pharmaplan and donated at Christmas to the underprivileged or the sick.

We are aiming at 200 decorated boxes and are also encouraging Doctors and delegates to go online at the stand to do their own personal donation…This really is a fantastic initiative as not only satisfies the exhibits needs, but does good too and that’s always a win win situation.

The stand itself flanks the entrance doors to the lectures venues and as such was designed in a split manner. Pharmaplan is launching a new product Oleanz Rapitab and hence that signage is prominent. Every delegate must at some stage pass through the doors between the stand and as such the visibility and possibility for interaction is high.

We took great care to make sure that we chose the best possible position for this client to maximise their exhibit value.

Pharmaplan SASUOG exhibit

Based on a 6m x 2m floorspace this stand was an offshoot of an exhibit built previously for the Gyneacology division of Pharmaplan. It made use of existing graphic panels.  Products on display included Smecta, Linola, Cosmofer, Cathejell and Lomexin.

SASUOG was held at the Upper Eastside Hotel in Woodstock, Cape Town.

The exhibit used the following finishes

1. Raised tongue and groove timber flooring

2. Octanorm aluminium structure

3. Stretched fabric prints

4. Custom bar counters with backlit graphic panels

5. Hospitality including a water cooler and popcorn (always a hit on these shows)

The exhibit was in a prime position at the main entrance of the hotel Lobby ensuring a very busy stand for the congress duration. Popcorn is always a hit at these events to such an extent that we need to hire in extra help to run the popcorn machine.

Another superb and economical exhibit produced for Pharmaplan.

Pfizer – SASMO SASCRO 2011

Our largest project of the year to date.

Pfizer took the main hospitality suite at SASMO/ SASCRO Oncology medical congress in August.  This entailed treating the entire stage at the Sun City Superbowl.

Pfizer SASMO SASCRO 2012 Render

We chose a concept that was quick to install. All external walls where inflatable and internally lit with colour changing LED lighting. This created a soft space that was inviting, comfortable and an escape from the business of conferencing and the main show floor for doctors.

Features included:

1. Air-roof entrance

2. Inflate walls with internal LED lighting changing from soft white to subtle green

3. A fully stocked  smoothie bar

4. A fully stocked espresso bar

5. A variety of snacks

6. A full lounge and cafe area to each side of the exhibit

7. 2 large meeting suites with projector facilities utilising Octanorm Maxima

8. Free WiFi for delegates

9. Computer terminals for those delegates who didn’t bring their laptops.

10.  2 x emergency exits

Internally furnishings consisted of custom bar units, new furnishings, Octanorm maxima structures as well as eco-friendly Xanita board units to display product detail.

The crew at HOTT3D handled all aspects so that it was literally a walk-on, walk-off scenario for client.

All in all this project rolled out perfectly and smoothly, which is indicative of the pre-event planning we put into such projects

Pharmaplan SASMO congress

Hott3D produced 2 large exhibits for Pharmaplan and Merck as well as a huge Hospitality zone for Pfizer at SASMO/ SASCRO Oncology congress held at Sun City last week.

All 3 exhibits were produced seamlessly despite the huge effort required in both pre-production and onsite. The buildup of all 3 exhibits took a full 2 days and strike took 8 hours until the truck was resealed. Not to mention months of planning.

A few photographs of Pharmaplans below.  Photographs of Merck and Pfizer to follow

We partnered with Danceheads who filmed and produced hilarious animated DVD’s of delegates. It’s fair to say participants and the audience where rolling with laughter. Coupled with a (very very busy) popcorn machine the Pharmaplan stand was packed virtually all of the exhibition, which is rare on Pharmaceutical congress exhibitions. Both Oncologists and Nurses participated.

This exhibit was purposefully designed with a very high structure. At 5m’s it was visible from the stairs where the delegates entered the venue. We at H3D take care to design stands to suit the venue and show. We knew that other exhibitors would produce high stands and that Pharmaplans stand was at the back of the venue. Solution – go high and be loud.

The Graphics were designed by BottleBlue in conjunction with client and ourselves to reflect the “movie” them. These were printed onto fabric in full colour and tensioned into the Octanorm structure

Pharmaplan at Clicks Congress 2011

Another succesful Clicks Congress for Pharmaplan at the CTICC in Cape Town.

Once again the photobooth was instituted on this stand and once again the poor photographer (me) was inundated. Each picture taken was printed  and branded with Pharmaplans key product logo’s and given to the delegates as a memento of the show. Feedback from the 2010 congress suggests that many of last years prints are still displayed on office, hospital and practice walls…carrying the company name and brands well beyond the show.

Pharmaplan exhibited a range of products that are available from Clicks stores

Pharmaplan at EHPBA medical congress 2011

Pharmaplan where exhibiting a new medical drug to an audience of 1500 delegates, many of whom where international.

A representative of Biotest (Pharmaplans are the South african distributors for Biotest) flew out to support their exhibition effort.

The stand is a combination of system (Octanorm Maxima) and custom and incorporates features such as

– Slung ceilings

– Drop down bulkheads with branding

– Custom timber tower with plant features

– Reclaimed teak furniture

– Tongue and groove timber flooring

Pharmaplan

This stand was an excellent example of a combination between system building and custom building. The entire stand is fully re-usable.

This is one of my favourite stands to date in 2011. We are afforded a great deal of leeway by Pharmaplan with regards design, which worked out fantastically for EHPBA as it has for previous shows for them.

Pharmaplan

Pharmaplan

The relationship between Pharmaplan and H3D has now extended into its 5th year. It is a perfect example of how a long-term relationship can be beneficial for both company’s. With over 70 stand builds to date for Pharmaplan they remain one of our most important key clients. They understand us. We understand them and we continue to offer very good value for what is produced. As they grow so too does their stand impact.

Should you have the need to develop a similar mutually beneficial relationship do not hesitate to contact ourselves
